It's Ba-a-a-ck
I haven't posted about this the Beloit Mindset list for a since July 2006. It is still strong and healthy as ever. My favorite is number 20 on the list is "Text Messaging is their e-mail." and the one most dismaying is number 30 "Non-denominational mega-churches have always been the fastest growing religious organizations in the U.S. " What is your favorite or most dismaying item on the list.

If you are truly enterprising, you may find ways to capitalize on these items (research topics? revisions of examples?) However, it is probably equally as important to know what the students care about than what assumptions they make. A pdf document "Engaging the "social networking" Generation" from Noel Levitz, Inc. discusses ways to apply the attitudes of the 2007 Freshman class for marketing. Some of the items readily lend themselves to academic libraries, such as providing a blog, podcast, virtual tour, rss, etc. Prospective students want to go online and look at important campus sites. Why not have the library be one of those sites?
