Happiness is a moral obligation? What about Joy?

No matter the season.
This trend started with
Recliner commentaries http://www.reclinercommentaries.com/2009/07/happiness-is-moral-oblilgation.html

Wouldn't you know, I found more people discussing this older blog.
From a YouTube collection: Everything's amazing; nobody is happy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jETv3NURwLc - ergo - technology doesn't make us happy, but feeling we are owed something--recipe for depression. [via Proverbial Lonewolf]

From Get Rich Slowly today - Lower your expectations--Increase your happiness. - Great analog to The Recliner statement.

Our library holds a book, The History of Happiness by Darrin M. McMahon. My favorite one is a classic by Hannah Whithall Smith, The Christian's Secret of a Happy Life

all this talk of happiness reminds me of the description about early Christians: absurdly happy, completely fearless, and in constant trouble from a sermon by Jim Murphy which is on the Internet Archive.

By the way, here is the background to the song at linked on title.
