Halloween and All Saints Day And oh yes--Reformation!
Just saw a post on the ACL listserv about a new book on Halloween, Redeeming Halloween Without Selling Out (Thanks ACL'ers). Naturally, on a Christian discussion list, this led to great historical event in the Christian Church: The Reformation or rather the series of reformations which occurred and the 95 Theses protesting for the most part the sale of indulgences. I tried using Britannica. I would also like to celebrate Nov. 1 as more traditionally All Saints Day, not because of the traditional saints but in memory of all two elderly saints (small s) I know about who just went to be with the Lord in the past week: Louise and Dorothy. You will be greatly missed.
