Maundy Thursday Thoughts

Yesterday, I mentioned Sister Rosetta Tharpe as an Gospel Singer of this century, and wouldn't you know that our Reference Collection would have a new addition African American Lives from Oxford Press. Unfortunately, Sister Tharpe isn't in this wonderful collection which is on Choice Outstanding Titles for 2005 and Booklist Editor's Choice. I hope you have purchased it for your collection.

These next few days are replete with symbolism of sacrifice and service for all Christians. According to Wikipedia's article, Maundy comes from Old French phrase from John 13: 34

Since many of our current generation of students are symbolism illiterate, especially with the popularity of fiction like the DaVinci Code, pull out your books on Christian symbolism and have at it.
