Women's History Month

This is as good a time as any to encourage you to think of ways to honor the women who have made a difference at your College or University. I was reminded of this when I was looking through the our archives for material for the history class. We identified several diaries written by women which were yet to be transcribed and also "rediscovered" Mariet Hardy Freeland who had written for the church organ and whose daughter, Emma shay, wrote a biography of her life. As I searched for additional Internet information, I came across this bibliography from Messiah College of resources about Wesleyan/Holiness women clergy.

While these diaries may not be the most earthshattering entries in the world--kind of like some blogs I know--they reflect the life and world around them as well as their deep faith and piety. As such they provide more insight into the past.

The National Women's History Project includes a list of suggestions to help celebrate this month. In addition, the site provides videos, brochures, and posters to purchase.

What are you planning to do this month?
