A Citation is a citation is...

Next week is our annual Citation Week when we set aside some time to talk to any intrepid students regarding proper entries for references and footnotes. As much as I wish they were beating down the door and it was an SRO occasion, it istn't happening--yet.

I was reminded of these workshops when I came across a couple of references on a discussion list to citation websites. I think it was Ref-L. Anyway--I've been looking at getCited. Wow! Would anyone in ACL like to start putting in his or her articles from the TCL? According to the introduction 22,896 articles are listed here and over 3 million journals. The members of the organization are responsible for entering the material, and their names are listed.

I did a search on blogs OR weblogs and retrieved seven records: two bibliographies, one a conference presentation, two journal articles and one book. While this wasn't a large number, I was impressed by the variety of resources recorded !

Three questions: Do any of your faculty already participate? Do you mention this site in any your instruction sessions? What is your impression of it?
