I was watching BookTV this weekend and saw Nancy Pearcey discussing her latest work, Total Truth. A quick search on WorldCat showed it's not in too manyChristian academic libraries as yet, but I would hope it is soon as it has much to say about worldviews. I just discovered Christian Book Previews which looks promising as another source for Fundamental and Evangelical Christian book reviews. Anyway, this talk by Ms. Pearcey reminded me of an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education "Liberal Groupthink is AntiIntellectual" (Nov. 12, 2004) by Mark Bauerlein (sorry, you need a password for the entire article) who related the following
Sometimes, however, the Assumption[that all strangers who are intellectuals are liberal] steps over the line into arrogance, as when
at a dinner a job candidate volunteered her description of a certain
"racist, sexist, and homophobic" organization, and I admitted that I
belonged to it. Or when two postdocs from Germany at a nearby university
stopped by my office to talk about American literature. As they sat down and
I commented on how quiet things were on the day before Thanksgiving, one
muttered, "Yes, we call it American Genocide Day."
Nancy Pearcey's book isn't being published too soon.
